The Yin to my Yang.

Last night I got the chance to experience a different type of yoga, Yin Yoga.  It was so relaxing and healing; something that I did not expect to enjoy as much as I did.  The heat was up, the humidity blasted, and the lights dimmed.  We sat in several different stretches for 3-5 minutes at a time, focusing our mind on the positions we were in.

Yin Yoga, is the complete opposite to any yoga, stretching, or aerobic type class you can take.  Posture is not important, positioning is not important, it is all about letting your body fall into these stretches however it naturally falls.  It is focused on meditation.  Steadying the mind and the body; being in the moment and feeling the stretch as it naturally comes to you.
Let me tell you... IT FEELS GREAT!!!

Last nights class made me realize just how tense and uptight I can become as the day goes on.  To truly relax letting my body go limp and my thoughts be released was the most free and peaceful feeling I could obtain; not to mention it is exactly what I needed.

Today that sense of freedom and peace, that sense of letting go, and that sense of release is what I want to maintain.  It is so easy to get caught up in the stress and pressures of life.  It is so easy to stop taking care of our bodies and our minds.  Yet it is so important that we make time to take care of ourselves.

Today is a good day to just completely relax. And at the times that your body naturally wants to tense up and stress out, today is a good day to focus on releasing that stress

So today...
no worries, no stress, no tension,
just pure relaxation.
